(NOT ALL RELATED TO AUTO REPAIR)
My bank was impressed by the scam. The branch manager said that it was one of the best done letters of this type that she had ever seen. Rattlesnake Mountain Enterprises would like to pass this advice along to our customers. Please be very wary of all solicitations that are going to give you “some thing for nothing.” We make the following suggestions on how to react to these scams.
Yes you can convert nearly any mobile air conditioning system to R134a. The trick part is do you want it to last or not. Proper conversion of an air conditioning system requires some skill and specialized equipment. With out the proper equipment you will violate several environmental protection laws.
- Don’t reply to any e-mails of this type, They may include attachments and other devices that can crash your computer. DO NOT CLICK ANY LINKS. These devices may NOT be detected by virus scans and other detection software.
- Print a copy of the really bad ones and if they ask for bank account information take the copy to your bank.
- If you get this information in a letter save the really bad ones and report them to the bank, post office or other appropriate agency.
- DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY OR BANK ACCOUNT INFORMATION.
DON’T GET MAD AT ANYONE THAT TELLS YOU THIS IS A SCAM. THEY ARE RIGHT.
This particular scam contained a cashiers check that looked really good however there was one thing that even Bud could recognize. The signature on a $4970.00 cashier’s check was computer printed. I have never seen a bank draft of any kind that did not require a real person to sign it for an amount larger that $1000.00.
Did we fall for this scam, no but we were surely tempted for a few minutes.
